New oil tank

Dear Mr Owens,

I wish to commend Andrew Lacey and his commitment to service on behalf of Oil4Wales.

In late August I made several telephone calls to request that a rival company inspect our oil tank. The area near the tank had been smelling of oil since we moved into our house in May of this year. I had made contact with this company at the Vale Show before I had spotted your stand there. In summary, the rival company "talked a good game" but never came out to check.

At the end of October, I contacted your company to make the same request. I was given Andrew Lacey’s name and telephone mobile number as the point of contact. Within 10 minutes of leaving a message on his voicemail, Andrew returned my call. Notwithstanding my delay in contacting your company, Andrew was anxious to inspect the oil tank to avoid any loss of oil or pollution to the environment.

One of your representatives inspected the oil tank late that afternoon and discovered that the inner tank had split. He advised that the tank would need replacement. I was not at home then but I was fully appraised of the position and possible solutions by Andrew in a lengthy out of hours call. We decided to ask Oil4Wales to replace the tank.

The following day Andrew and his team attended to undertake the work. Andrew was courteous and prompt. He and his team undertook the work, discovering complications at every turn. What was expected to be a simple replacement of the oil tank involved rebuilding the stand for the tank and lining the wall with fireproof sheets.

At the end of that day, the work was nearly complete but as the oil was being pumped into the new tank from the temporary tank, the pump failed. This was no bad thing as we were all delighted to see the new one delivered by none other than Shane Williams! My seven year old son Robbie was awestruck. Shane and his wife did not dash off but remained to chat for a while and for photographs to be taken. Shane was lucky that my son’s team mates from Cowbridge RFC under 8s were not aware of his presence or he would have been mobbed!

Unfortunately the replacement pump failed and finally at around 7pm, Andrew and his team accepted the job could not be completed that day and agreed to attend the following morning with another pump.

Andrew was delayed in the morning but was quick to advise us of this and also his estimated time of arrival. All went well when he and the team arrived and the oil was quickly pumped back. The work area was tidied and clean before they left.

Since then we have had our boiler serviced by another member of your team. Once again, we have been impressed by the professionalism of your team.

I have had further contact with Andrew since then in respect of the boiler. He has been most helpful. I would be grateful if you would pass on my thanks to him for his help and assistance.

Of course, the icing on our cake was some signed photos of Shane and some Ospreys/Wales team mates. I can't mention those at home as these will be shared between my son and father as Christmas presents though.

We are satisfied customers and will not hesitate to recommend your company. In any event, nearly £1800 for a personal audience with Shane and some souvenirs seems very reasonable, especially with a free oil tank!
