A Gelligaer woman was left ‘devastated’ after a 1,000 litres of fuel costing hundreds of pounds vanished from her vital home-based tank.

Anne Jenkins, of Heol Adam, was left shocked after a significant amount of fuel was allegedly taken from the tank, which had also suffered serious damage.

Mrs Jenkins said she “burst into tears” after receiving the news that over £200 worth of fuel had been lost – especially as temperatures are set to plummet further from this week.

She said: “My son took me to McArthurGlen and when we came back he said ‘let’s put the heating on’.

“He looked at the gauge and it was saying it needed oil – I had only put 1,000L in on September 15.”

The worried resident spoke with engineers who advised her to replace the battery, however she was unable to do so without support and was left concerned.

She said: “The engineer went to look at the tank and said ‘I have some bad news’ and I burst into tears.

“He said ‘I think (the fuel) has been stolen’.

“You can see the tank from the lane so maybe someone did take it. “

Mrs Jenkins then contacted the police and insurance company to notify them of the alleged theft. The force has now concluded its investigation into the incident with no arrests made.

Thankfully the upset resident has received vital support from her suppliers Oil 4 Wales, who have gone “above and beyond” since the upsetting incident.

The family-run company, founded by Colin Owens, stepped in to provide long-term client Mrs Jenkins with a new, top of the range, tank free of charge, which also features a lock up function to enhance her future security.

Mrs Jenkins said: “I can’t thank them enough, I really can’t speak highly enough of Colin Owens and Oil 4 Wales.

“They really went above and beyond for me. They left no stone unturned and they had me in tears with how much they helped me.

He said: “As a community-focussed business we are always striving to support our loyal customers and enhance the service we provide.

“Working with the community, for the community is our slogan at Oil 4 Wales and something we are proud to be recognised for.
